Plott Rescue Information: The Plott Hound is a type of coonhound bred to hunt large game. Plotts are smart, loyal, and loving family companions. Plotts are great with children. The Plott Hound is best suited to life in the country, and makes a fine outside dog. Plotts need plenty of vigorous daily exercise.

Plott Trivia: The Plott Hound is named after Jonathan Plott, who developed the breed in the mid-eighteenth century. The Plott Hound is the only completely American purebred Hound. A Plott Hound can stand up to a bear. Plotts are the only dog breed original to North Carolina. Plotts are very rare outside of the southeastern U.S.
